How to create New Year's Resolutions Part 2

Queridos,

It took me a while to get myself centered and finish this piece. I hope you are dedicating some days of reflection to your New Years process.

In Part 1 we connected with our Inner Compass & Divine Child Energy. In Part 2, I invite you to reevaluate your concept of Progress.

What does Progress mean?

If you understand Spanish, please watch the interview with Uruguay ex-president José Mujica here, and skip the following section.

On the meaning of Progress: José Mujica

If the Spanish language is not in your tool box, I will offer here little resume of the above mentioned video here: During a conference in his recent visit to Mexico City, José Mujica tells to his audience, one has the chance to choose how to live since we are an animal with consciousness. If we do not consciously choose how to live, the market will choose for us. We will spend our lives paying bills at the end of the month, dreaming of “progressing” by buying new things, until we become old.

The other alternative to this lifestyle, is to spend some of our time in service of a so-called utopia. To consciously participate in the construction project of a better society and a better world not only for us, but for those the future generations to come. José Mujica advices us that if we do not make these choices consciously, we will get a chosen lifestyle mechanically, pulled by social inertia. A lifestyle in which we believe that progress means to upgrade our scooter for an auto, an auto for an Audi, and so on.

Jose Mujica invites us take our choices consciously, while offering us the following fantasy of our late years: once you are old, in a body with aches and pains, would you stare at yourself in the mirror on a random afternoon, and ask yourself:

Have I betrayed the child I had inside myself?

By then, it will be too late.

Take some time to reflect on what means progress to you. Write your own definition. How do you envision a human being who has “progressed”? Which are the values surfacing through this reflection?

Once you have created your own definition of progress and together with the tools you discovered in Part 1 –your Inner Compass & Divine Child Energy–, fill up the following diagram:

Wish you a wonderful 2020!
