Join Jivamukti Yoga teachers Daniela Fuentes (Advanced Certified/B.Yoga Basel Creative Director) and Schalk Viljoen (800-hour Certified) for a full-on week of yoga practice, mindful mornings, inner discovery & peace in a dream-like 19th. Century farmhouse -La Masseria- situated in the luscious natural landscape of south-eastern Sicily surrounded by the breathtaking Mediterranean sea. A week devoted to yourself away from routines and obligations, surrounded by this inspiring location of pristine beauty at a charming place where time slows down, restoring the natural sense of serenity and vitality to your mind, body and soul. This year, our retreat venue is a 19th. century farmhouse - La Masseria - situated in the luscious natural landscape of south-eastern Sicily surrounded by the breathtaking Mediterranean sea, one-hour drive south from Catania airport. La Masseria is a hidden jewel away from everything, but close to beautiful beaches, natural reserves and fairy-tale towns.

Set in amongst olive groves, on a country lane away from noise and neighbours, our retreat venue is just 15 minutes south from the unspoilt World Heritage town of Noto – one of Italy’s most beautiful historical centres. Our retreat venue’s yoga room is a beautifully restored pitch roof barn, it includes as well a fresh water infinity pool, loads of different patios and living spaces to relax, a massage room and a stunning sunset terrace.

There is plenty to do, walking through plantations of almonds, olives and watermelons fields or cycling on trails amongst the groves, having a massage from one of our great therapist, swimming in our magical pool and of course going to the wonderful beaches or sicilian historical towns all around us.

A 15-minute drive east is the Nature Reserve of Vendicari, a heaven of wildlife and some of the island’s most beautiful and deserted golden-sand beaches.


We will start the day with 30 minutes of mindful journaling while sipping tea. A 2.5 hours Morning Yoga Practice follows which includes pranayama, kriyas, asana practice & meditation.

The Evening Yoga Practice is either workshop-style or yin-oriented, with the focus on turning inward, and quietening the mind. Yoga practices will be lead by Daniela or Schalk.

About the Teachers & Yoga Styles

Daniela Fuentes – Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher

Daniela has extensively taught yoga through the last 12 years of her life as well as collaborated in diverse creative process projects related to art, design, photography & music. She founded B.Yoga Basel in 2008 -her home base teaching- and coached other yoga teachers since then. Daniela is an advanced certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher and has taught in Switzerland, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Greece, Dubai & Austria. She has MAS in Curating from the University of Arts Zürich, and is an independent designer at the design community STELLWERK in Basel where she develops her own projects which are often between the edges of design, art and yoga.

Schalk Viljoen- 800-Hour Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher

Schalk has been teaching since 2011. Working in the software industry, Schalk has found yoga as the perfect counter balance to the corporate world. Schalk teaches in Darmstadt, Mainz, Frankfurt and Basel.

About Jivamukti Yoga

Jivamukti is a physical, ethical, and spiritual practice, combining a vigorous hatha yoga, vinyasa-based physical style with adherence to five central tenets: shastra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahimsa (nonviolence, non-harming), nāda (music), and dhyana (meditation).

About Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time—for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.

Accomodation & Prices

La Masseria offers bedrooms each tastefully and individually furnished. All rooms are equipped with Egyptian cotton sheets and towels, complimentary organic toiletries. And of course – Wi-Fi. We will have the entire Villa to ourselves, you can relax fully in the patio areas, by the pool, in your room or on the sunny roof terrace.

The prices include 3 yummy vegetarian meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner OR tea and fruits, brunch and dinner), 7 nights of accommodation, full use of the Villa and the Yoga program.
